TASKS

COVID-19 Procedures

• The first thing that Trey must do is to get a COVID screening after entering thru the automotive center from the left of Walmart. Only one person is allowed in at a time. Coach also takes the screening.
• Clocks in after being cleared.
• Goes to his locker to get his yellow reflective safety vest.
• Starts collecting carts and bringing them to the front of the store
• He sanitizes them with the sanitizer machine.
• Trey also takes laps around the store to find stray carts.
• Trey must wear a yellow reflective safety vest while working.
• He must also report any broken carts, signs, cart corral, and lights to management so they can fix them.
• If Trey finds any leftover merchandise in carts, he may take them to the customer service center to the left of the entrance.
• Trey takes a 15-minute break
• Trey continues collecting shopping carts until end of shift
• Checks out with manager

Collecting Carts by Hand

1) Get safety vest, gloves and shag strap
2) Collect the furthest car in the parking lot first and remove any trash
3) Continue getting carts. Limited to 10
4) Secure trap to carts and push to storage area. Watch out for cars and customers
5) Remove the strap at the cart storage area
6) Push the carts into storage
7) Close the door to storage area
Collecting Carts with a Cart Retriever
1) Get safety vest and key to the electric car retriever
2) Insert the key and start the cart retriever
3) Collect carts. Limited to 20
4) Secure the carts with the strap
5) Push carts to storage area
6) Remove strap and cart from retriever. Push carts into storage area
7) Drive retriever to charging area and park it next to the wall
8) Turn key to off position
9) Push emergency shut off button (to charge properly)
10) Plug into the wall
11) The key for the cart retriever is with the customer service manager. You need to ask him/her for it
and return it to him/her when done

Charge the Electric Cart

1) Park cart facing forward for the next customer
2) Turn off the electric cart
3) Check plug for any exposed wires or damage (if you see any damage, do not plug the cord)
4) Plug charging cord into a wall socket
5) Wipe down electric cart
6) Leave electric car charging until needed

Window Washing

1) Check if windows are dirty
2) Get paper towels and glass cleaners
3) Spray windows with glass cleaner and wipe with paper towels
4) Repeat for each window
5) Throw away used paper towels
6) Return glass cleaner and unused paper towels
Parking Lot Cleaning
1) Get gloves and trash can liner
2) Pick up trash from parking lot and around the store
3) Throw away trash
4) Get a broom and dust pan
5) Sweep outside entrance area and dispose of collected dirt
6) Put broom and dust away

Spills Procedures

1) Guard and identify the spill (never leave a spill unattended. Call an associate to help you)
2) Review SOP. THERE ARE SPILL STATIONS INSIDE THE STORE (GET FAMILIAR WITH THEM)
3) Gather supplies
4) Clean according to SOP
5) Process remaining liquid
6) Place in appropriate bucket
7) Fill out defective merchandise slip

TYPES OF SPILLS

1) Non-Hazardous Waste: Soft drinks, food, etc
2) Hazardous Waste Spills: Certain chemicals, fuel
3) Unknown Waste Spills: Requires special handling. Unknown spills substances in parking lot

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

• Trey has a hard time following directions. He is only allowed to physically push 10 CARTS MAX! Do
not let him push anymore. Do not help him, coach is not allowed to push carts.
• 20 carts must be pushed with the electric cart.
• Trey can be negative. Motivate him by complimenting his work ethic. Be positive with him and redirect
if he starts to complain.
• Trey needs motivation to greet customers. He needs to be professional and not have a bad attitude
towards customers and their cars.
• Trey needs guidance when pushing carts. Redirect him to check his surroundings to avoid any accidental situations.
• Trey should pace himself. He may work fast and push himself to hard. He needs to take breaks and
stay hydrated, no excuses.
• Teach him to be punctual. He thinks because he’s worked there for so long and he works hard he can
do what he wants. He will argue that “Walmart doesn’t care” about how long he takes on break/lunch.
• He will try to talk about non work related subjects. Make sure to redirect him to focus on his task.
• GREET THEM>>>HELP THEM<<<THANK THEM. That is what Trey needs to do all the time with the
customers. Smile, Eye Contact and Friendly voice!
