What is ExD...? ExD (Exceeding Dreams) is CM's Media & Marketing department. We pride ourselves on truly making a difference in every life that we touch. Currently, ExD is employed by 2 of our very own participants. Both direct hires had previous knowledge of the basics of social media and Photoshop. However, after getting hired at ExD, their skills have been shooting through the roof, and are only perfecting their craft each day.

What should you do? 📱 Always Have Your Cell Phone Make sure your phone is charged and with you every single day . 📞 Contact the Right Person If your coach has left and your bus is still not there, call your assigned scheduling coordinator. 🪑 Wait in the Safe Location Stay at (e.g) Tacos La Calle and wait patiently. ⚠️ Do not leave the area —your bus will not wait or come looking for you if you’re not there. 🧠 Quick Quiz!     ABOUT US What is Clear Motivations? Clear Motivations is a community-based adult day program serving adults with disabilities. All of our activities and exercises are centered around the participant's goals and are focused on community integration. Not only do we motivate our participants to be involved within their community, but we also support those who seek employment. Since 2013, Clear Motivations has successfully placed 136 participants with direct employment jobs within Orange County. All direct hire participants are hired directly through businesses just like you and me. Our Vision: Our vision is t o provide individuals with disabilities an opportunity for equality in today's workforce. Our Mission: Our mission is to assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining competitive integrated employment within their community. Through Clear Motivations programs, and services we stimulate, educate, and create an environment where our participants can obtain successful employment. GET TO KNOW OUR AFFILIATES Motivate My Closet (MMC) Motivate My Closet (Thrift Store): Motivate My Closet is a second-hand clothing store founded by CM that reuses and recycles your generous donations by providing employment for individuals with disabilities. Motivate My Closet believes in the importance of full inclusion within the community and most importantly the employment industry. 100% of the profits go back towards the employment of our MMC direct-hire participants. Exceeding Dreams Media & Marketing (ExD) ExD (Exceeding Dreams): Our Media & Marketing department prides itself on truly making a difference in every life that we touch. Currently, Clear Motivations has hired 2 of their participants to work in their Media & Marketing department. Both direct hires had previous knowledge of the basics of social media and Photoshop. However, after getting hired at ExD, their skills have been shooting through the roof, and are only perfecting their craft each day. The career fields we focus on are: Office/Secretarial, Social Media Management, Website Maintenance, Marketing, Photography, Videography, Graphic Design, Broadcasting, and Production. Within these career paths they learn how to; build and show confidence, work in a professional setting, and multi-task while staying organized. On top of all of that, they will also gain a plethora of technical skills.     Personal Information Memorization Toolkit This toolkit is designed to help participants memorize important contact and personal information, such as home address, parent/guardian phone number, workplace, and pay details. The activities are fun, repeatable, and adaptable to individual learning styles. Participant's Name* Coach's Name* Coach's Email* Activity 1: Flashcard Practice Materials: Index cards or digital flashcards Instructions: Write a question on one side (e.g., “What is your home address?”) and the answer on the back. Practice daily, reviewing incorrect cards more frequently. Celebrate progress to build confidence.     Understanding Personal Space & How to Respond to Unwanted Hugs Participant's Name* Coach's Name* Coach's Email* Activity 1: Personal Space Circle Objective: Teach what personal space is and how to recognize boundaries. Materials Needed: Hula hoop or masking tape Visuals showing “Too Close,” “Just Right,” “Too Far” Instructions: Create a circle around the participant using a hula hoop or floor tape. Explain that this is their personal space bubble . Have others approach slowly and ask the participant to say “Stop” when they feel someone is too close. Discuss how everyone has a right to their space and how it’s okay to ask for space. Key Message: “It’s okay to say when someone is too close.” Upload a photo of your participant inside their "personal bubble"* Upload Photo Here Activity 2: Practice Saying "No Thank You" Objective: Practice polite but firm ways to decline a hug. Instructions: Role-play different situations where someone comes in for a hug. Step 1 - Getting Started Do you know where you want to work? You are ready to enter the workforce. Congratulations! You and your coach can start talking about companies where you want to work. Fill out the Job assessment form together. Begin Now Step 2 - Create an email account Create Email Note for coaches: Now, let's save their email address and password for our records. Click on this link: Participant CM Emails *This will help us monitor his applications and follow up with any instructions the employer sends. Do you have access to an email account? You will need one when applying online and communicating with your employer. Create a professional email that you will use only for employment purposes. Recommendation: First letter of name, last name, and birth year. ‘Ncolin83’ Recommendation: Clear2013 Step 3 - Create a resume Do you have a resume? Having a resume is crucial when applying for jobs. It describes your work history and skills in your own words. Remember to emphasize your skills! It's time to create your resume and showcase it to potential employers! Build Resume Step 4 - Time to Apply Keep track of Employment Log Please use the Employment Log Google sheet provided: Please make a copy and duplicate a tab under your participant name so we can keep track of all locations and information. When adding information to your employment log, be clear and concise by using the primary source page of the workplace you’re applying to. Employment Log Note for coaches: Research the company for which your participant wants to work. What positions do your participant wish to apply for? Is he qualified for the position? What are the requirements needed for the position? Only apply at the comp any’s website. Do not apply through third-party sites! Step 5 - Get the Do's and Don'ts on Preparing for your Interview Work with your participant to understand the dress code needed for the interview and the social skills required to succeed. First impressions matter! Step 6 - Mock Interview Time! Mock Interview Time! The more prepared you are, the more confident you will be - resulting in a better outcome. Practice answering these interview questions with your coach! Start Mock Interview Note for coaches: Ensure your participant keeps eye contact, shares his smile, uses his happy voice, and is himself when practicing the interview questions. Proper posture, keeping calm hands, and asking the interviewer to rephrase the question is also recommended. Step 7 - Preparation Time! Let's prepare for job hunting! Let's finish what you started! “Following up in person and inquiring about open positions can increase the odds of you being invited for an interview. Regardless of the type of job you are looking for.
